Changes at "Report Participant Language in Our Engagement Data"

Right now our demographic reporting leans on the district's race and ethnicity categories. This data does not reflect representation of Mam and Arabic-speaking families, and we lose vital information about how representative our group actually is. If we can't see these communities in the data, we can't honestly say whether we're reaching them.

We will add language to our data reporting and the visualizations on our Demographic Snapshot. Reporting on language does two things: it shows whether the languages our participants speak reflect the languages OUSD families actually speak, and it surfaces racial and ethnic communities that the district's standard categories blur together. This will require modifying our surveys and data collection to more broadly capture this data from participants.
